About

About Insect Mesh

A fine-weave screen fitted to an opening to keep all flying insects out while air and daylight pass through freely.

An insect mesh is a fine-weave fibreglass or polyester screen, mounted in a frame or on a roller, that covers an opening to keep all flying insects out. A standard 18 by 16 weave stops mosquitoes, flies, and moths. Finer 20 by 20 weaves handle midges. Air and daylight pass through with minimal restriction.

Three main types in Singapore. Retractable pleated mesh folds away into a slim aluminium track when not in use. Magnetic mesh peels open for entry and reseals on a continuous magnetic seam. Roll-up mesh works like a roller blind, rolling up into a head-box above the opening. All three keep insects out and let ventilation through.

Where To Install Insect Mesh

Bedroom Windows

Flying insects — mosquitoes, moths, and flies — come through bedroom windows left open after dark. A retractable pleated insect mesh stays out of the way during the day and drops into place at dusk. The opening stays ventilated; the insects stay out.

Balcony and Patio Doors

Balcony sliders stay open most evenings in Singapore. A magnetic or roll-up insect mesh keeps the cross-breeze while blocking flies, moths, and mosquitoes. The magnetic seam reseals after every walk-through without a second thought.

Kitchen Windows

Kitchens with open windows during cooking get insects in fast. A pleated insect mesh fits inside the kitchen window frame and handles flies as well as mosquitoes — the full range of insects that food smell attracts.

Benefits

What Are The Benefits Of Insect Mesh

Four practical benefits of insect mesh for Singapore homes and offices.

Stop All Flying Insects At The Opening

Insect mesh blocks mosquitoes, flies, moths, and midges at the opening — not after they are already in the room. A properly fitted frame with no gaps handles the full range of flying insects that are active at different times of day and year in Singapore.

Year-Round Insect Control, Not Just Dengue Season

Flies, fruit flies, and moths are active year-round, not just during dengue peaks. Insect mesh on pantry windows, staff kitchens, and back-of-house openings handles the full insect range without changing the existing window or adding air-con load.

Built For Singapore's Climate

Fibreglass-core and polyester insect mesh fabrics are rated for tropical UV exposure, rain splash at balcony openings, and daily operation. Frame profiles are aluminium — no rusting, no warping. Systems stay serviceable across years of Singapore weather.

Ventilate Without Choosing Between Fresh Air And Insects

Open windows and sliding doors fully without closing them at the first sign of insects. Insect mesh handles the barrier — flies, moths, and mosquitoes stay out while the breeze and daylight come through. No trade-off required.

FAQ

Common Questions About Insect Mesh

What Insects Does Insect Mesh Stop?

A standard 18 by 16 weave insect mesh stops mosquitoes, flies, moths, and most flying insects. Very small midges may pass through; a finer 20 by 20 weave handles those. The frame seal at the edges matters as much as the fabric — a loose edge gap lets insects through regardless of weave fineness.

Is Insect Mesh Child- Or Pet-Safe?

No. Insect mesh is for insect exclusion, not safety. Cats and small children can push through or tear fine mesh. If fall prevention or pet containment is the requirement, that is a different product and we will say so before quoting.

Does Insect Mesh Block The View Or Airflow?

Insect mesh reduces view clarity slightly — the way a standard fly screen does. Airflow is also minimally affected; the weave is open enough that cross-ventilation carries through. From outside the mesh reads more visibly than from inside.

What Is the Lead Time?

Typical lead time is 1 to 3 weeks. Faster than zip blinds and bamboo because the frames and tracks are simpler and most components are kept locally. If your handover is fixed, we can usually fit measurement and install around it.
